Ingrid Betancourt is free again!

Yesterday Spanish football team won the Euro 2008! From Barcelona I want to congratulate the football team because of their win. They must know I am not the only one celebrating their win. Since yesterday I have seen at least almost ten Spanish flags of support in the balconies of Barcelona.

( Celebrations in Madrid, the capital of Spain )

This may not seem much but it is certainly more than one usually sees in Barcelona. I also hope that now that so many people in Spain enjoy a Spanish nationalist fervour they understand better other nationalist fervours …

Congratulations to Spain!

SPAIN OR GERMANY?

This Sunday the Austrian capital won’t be the place for the judgement of Josef Fritzl … It just would be a place where the football teams of Spain and Germany will play the final of the Euroleague or something … I say or somthing because I do not follow football much but these days the Spanish media is always talking about the Spanish team.

Everything is so heated that some politicians have said that they prefer Germany to win. As an answer the radio of the Spanish church (year, you read welll …) has called these people gilipollas which is a very unpolite word …

So everthing is so heated that the last thing I would say is my preferences.

It is funny because in Spain the people who want more freedom for Catalonia are always called nationalists. And we are always told that nationalism is the worse and it is old fashioned. So I do not understand why this same people do not criticise nationalism when that nationalism refers to la selección nacional … I do not understand why they get so furious when people do not want to join the selección. The people who dislike more nationalism and tribal behaviour do not criticise the nationalism and tribal behaviour associated to the followers of the selección nacional.

But well, until here everything was politics. Just in a sports mood, I just wish the better team wins.

And it the best team is the Spanish team (Spanish team is not the same as Spain, by the way …) then let the Spanish team win. And if the German team is the best then let the German team win.

I just want this ends soon because I am fed up of so much nationalism. And seeing how some high figures use it to its benefit. Other worries should be more important to Spain. For example, the situation which makes that all the parts of Spain should be together by force and not by mutual agreement…. But let forget that. VIVA ESPAÑA …

—–

Leaving a part the meaning behind a team the truth is that the footballers of Spain seem very nice people. I imagine the Germans too …

More bloggers than ever face arrest for exposing human rights abuses or criticising governments, says a report.

Since 2003, 64 people have been arrested for publishing their views on a blog, says the University of Washington annual report.

In 2007 three times as many people were arrested for blogging about political issues than in 2006, it revealed.

More than half of all the arrests since 2003 have been made in China, Egypt and Iran, said the report.

Jail sentence

Citizens have faced arrest and jail for blogging about many different topics, said the World Information Access (WIA) report.

Arrested bloggers exposed corruption in government, abuse of human rights or suppression of protests. They criticised public policies and took political figures to task.

The report said the rising number of arrests was testament to the “growing” political importance of blogging. It noted that arrests tended to increase during times of “political uncertainty”, such as around general elections or during large scale protests.

Jail time followed arrest for many bloggers, said the report, which found that the average prison sentence for blogging was 15 months. The longest sentence found by the WIA was eight years.

It acknowledged that the true number of bloggers arrested could be far higher than the total it found as, in some cases, it proved hard to verify if an arrest had taken place and on what grounds.

For instance, it said the Committee to Protect Bloggers has published information about 344 people arrested in Burma - many of whom are thought to be be bloggers - but the WIA could not verify all the reports.

It also noted that many nations, perhaps as many as 30, imposed technological restrictions on what people can do online. In nations such as China this made it difficult for people to use a blog as a means of protest.

The report pointed out that it is not just governments in the Middle East and East Asia that have taken steps against those publishing their opinions online. In the last four years, British, French, Canadian and American bloggers have also been arrested.

The report predicted that the number of blogger arrests in 2008 would exceed the 36 seen in 2007 thanks to greater popularity of blogging as a medium, greater enforcement of net restrictions, and elections in China, Pakistan, Iran and the US.

ENRIQUETA MARTÍ

If you visit often www.joseffritzl.com you will have realised that there is a big change. Until now www.joseffritzl.com redirected to this blog.

Now what you see when you put www.joseffritzl.com is just a page with two photos. One of Enriqueta Martí and another of a younger Josef Fritzl. You have to click at continue at joseffritzl.com to reach this post.

So, what’s all this? Let me explain …

Some weeks before I registered www.joseffritzl.com I had already registered www.enriquetamarti.com. While I put content in joseffritzl.com blog I did nothing with www.enriquetamarti.com.

But it happened that the website www.enriquetamarti.com was mentioned in the Spanish journal www.elpais.com and said there was not activity and I felt a bit ashamed. It is funny that www.enriquetamarti.com got mentioned somewhere and www.joseffritzl.com is not mentioned anywhere …

But let me explain who Enriqueta Martí was. She was simply a kind of Jack the Ripper from Barcelona. She used to kill children and with the bones she prepared kind of exotoric medecins for the wealthy ones in Barcelona. Isn’t that enogh for creating a horror film with old Barcelona as a background?

Anyway, maybe some day you will be able to see a film about this horrible woman.

My idea is two have this blog in English and the blog of enriquetamarti.com in Catalan but it is not me who decides that …
